Health Law Compliance Assistance Seminar Coming to Omaha

August 18, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and the Nebraska Department of Insurance will co-host a free health law compliance assistance seminar September 14 and 15 in Omaha.

A press release said the seminar is part of the Labor Department’s Health Benefits Education Campaign to help workers and employers, especially small businesses, understand their rights and obligations under various health benefit laws.

The sessions will cover the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ( including HIPAA privacy ) and other laws under Part 7 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Affordable Care Act, the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act, and relating to fiduciary responsibility and health savings accounts. 

Seminar attendees will receive a copy of the booklet Health Benefits Coverage Under Federal Law and other material. The booklet also can be obtained by calling EBSA at 866.444.3272.

Panelists will include representatives from EBSA, the Nebraska Department of Insurance, the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division and Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, the Internal Revenue Service, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The seminar will be at the Holiday Inn Omaha Convention Center, 3321 South 72nd Street.
