Ibbotson Beefs Up Analysis Software

February 2, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Detailed hedge fund data from Hedge Fund Research, Inc. (HFR) will be added to Ibbotson Associate's EnCorr analytical software, according to a press release.

Ibbotson said that with the enhanced software, asset managers will be able to search, sort and analyze hedge funds based on more than 20 different criteria such as investment strategy, money manager and minimum investment requirement. They will then be able to build fund allocation recommendations with a combination of hedge funds, mutual funds and separately managed accounts. HFR Database also includes detailed contact information for each hedge fund.

EnCorr is aimed at pension fund management consultants, money managers, plan sponsors, sophisticated independent advisors and financial product marketers, Ibbotson said. The software allows a user to analyze historical performance data; evaluate and monitor manager/fund style and performance; develop and implement an asset allocation policy with financial products such as hedge funds, mutual funds and separately managed accounts; and test and forecast portfolio performance with varying spending rates using Monte Carlo simulations.

Hedge Fund Research, Inc. offers hedge fund data and performance information. HFR Database consists of approximately 3,000 funds, and forms the foundation of HFRI Monthly Performance Indices.
