Ibbotson Generates Retirement Education Campaign

November 4, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Investment research firm Ibbotson Associates has unveiled a new retirement planning program for advisors and their clients.

Based on its own asset allocation research, the company created a series of educational products and training programs to help financial services companies develop and market retirement products and planning, according to a news release.

The company said its financial planning approach recognizes that so many retirees will have to fund a retirement period much longer than before and may have to do it without Social Security or a company pension plan.

The company said the products include:

  • a client brochure, called A New Beginning, and advisor brochure, called Retirement Strategies, that explain the new risks faced in retirement and demonstrate how a combination of investment products and insurance products can lengthen income
  • advisor training in the form of instructor-led workshops on retirement income planning
  • Role of Immediate Annuities in Retirement, a PowerPoint presentation that demonstrates how to use annuities to optimize retirement income planning
  • Retirement Income Strategies, a chart that illustrates that annuitization reduces the chance of running out of money in retirement.
