In Franklin Township, New Jersey, authorities say they’ve captured a man suspected of dumping his grandson’s soiled diapers along several New Jersey roadways over the past year. According to the Associated Press, police say an officer acting on a hunch spotted a 68-year-old man leaving a load of diapers in the area of Routes 47 and 40. He was taken into custody after a traffic stop. The man allegedly told police leaving them around town without getting caught “almost became a game.”
In Columbus, Nebraska, a woman was called by her brother who had recently had spinal fusion surgery, was in pain and his left leg had gone numb. She had just arrived at the Tampa, Florida, airport. So, she tried to call his Veterans Affairs social worker but misdialed and reached the Jimmy John’s in Columbus and its night manager. She explained the situation, but when she realized she dialed the wrong number, apologized and told the manager, “Never mind.” However, the manager told the Omaha World-Herald he thought about it and called a delivery driver to pick up the woman’s brother and take him to the hospital. The delivery driver, a Navy veteran, said it was a privilege to help a fellow military member.
In Stratford, New Jersey, a man walking to buy a lottery ticket for this week’s massive Mega Millions jackpot fell and broke his hip, but he ended up winning anyway. WCAU-TV reports the 87-year-old told staff he was disappointed about not getting a ticket, so they invited him to join their lottery pool, which included a winning $1 million Mega Millions ticket.
