Manulife Rolls Out 457 Plan Sales Kit

March 19, 2003 ( - Financial advisors have a new sales tool kit and solutions module to reference for life insurance funded Section 457 plans.

The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company has introduced their Section 457 sales tool kit into the non-profit, non-qualified deferred compensation plan space.   The tool kit contains an assortment of sales materials, such as concept profiles, client profiles and case studies, and technical resources designed to help educate advisors who may be unfamiliar with the concepts of Section 457 plans. 

Additionally, the kit provides a sales strategy that explains:

  • Basic features of these plans
  • Prospecting information
  • Differences of the two primary types of 457 plans: 457(b) eligible and 457(f) ineligible
  • How life insurance may be used as a funding vehicle, providing tax-deferred accumulations and cost recovery via the tax-free death benefit
