Medica Adds Travel Benefit for Members

August 3, 2006 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Medica is now offering a travel benefit that allows members to receive in-network health care benefits outside of the plan's service area, with no additional cost to plan members or those providing coverage to employees.

According to the announcement by the Minneapolis-based provider, the travel benefit was created to provide health care access to travelers with urgent, chronic or emergency care needs. The benefit applies for groups that joined Medica or renewed with Medica after April 1, 2006.

Participating providers for the travel feature are available through UnitedHealthCare Options PPO, which includes more than 500,000 physicians, 4,600 hospitals and 73,000 ancillary providers, according to the announcement.

Medica members can present their member identification card to a participating provider and standard co-payments or co-insurance will still apply, with no additional paperwork required.

For more information or to locate a participating provider, visit www.mymedica.com or www.medica.com  or call the number on back of the member identification card.
