Mercer Launches Health Claim Advocacy Service

May 19, 2009 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Mercer has unveiled a health care claims advocacy service for its health and benefits administration clients.

A Mercer news release said the service involves a team of Mercer representatives to investigate and help resolve a host of health care claims issues on behalf of employees.

The new service will also help employers stay clear of privacy laws by not routing personal information through in-house personnel.

“Our experienced representatives are well-versed in the nuances of the health care claims system and can add real value to the overall benefits package offered by an employer,” noted Rich VanThournout, Health & Benefits Business Leader for Mercer’s outsourcing business, in the announcement.   “Claims issues are settled faster, benefit committee appeals are reduced, and systemic issues with benefit programs can be identified and resolved.”
