This new division will work to deliver creative benefits solutions in the exchange space, the firm says. In her new role, Cunninghis will report to Julio A. Portalatin, Mercer’s president and chief executive officer.
“Throughout her 25 years with Mercer, Sharon has been pivotal in driving product and solutions development, including Mercer Health Advantage, Global Health Accelerator, and Mercer Marketplace, to name a few,” Portalain says. “She has been influential on a significant number of client engagements and key relationships in the industry and brings a wealth of consulting and brokerage expertise.”
Bernard Walsh will succeed Cunninghis as the North America health and benefits region leader. Walsh will report to Dave Rahill, global health and benefits leader, and Pat Milligan, North America region president.
“Bernie Walsh, as Sharon’s successor, brings 18 years of proven health care experience with Mercer and our sister company Marsh,” Rahill says. “His diverse background will serve to deliver innovative thinking that continues to be a powerful driver in the industry.”
