MSRB Releases Web Site For Muni Compliance

December 17, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) is introducing a new section on its Web site to assist financial firms issuing products, including 529 college savings plans, containing municipal securities in compliance with current regulations.

The new Web site section includes information on the marketing, distribution, trading and selling of municipal securities, such as:

  • Product information
  • Firm qualifications requirements
  • Securities regulation
  • Information for investors
  • Links to other resources

Currently, securities firms and banks that market municipal fund securities, or products that contain municipal securities, must comply with the fair practice and other rules of the MSRB.

Established by Congress in 1975, the MSRB is responsible for regulations related to underwriting, trading and selling municipal securities – those securities issued by states, cities, counties and their public instrumentalities to help finance public projects and for their other public purposes.

Information can be obtained by clicking on the Municipal Fund Securities link on the MSRB’s Web site at http://www.msrb.org .
