N.J. Governor Vetoes Pension Bill

January 19, 2012 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – New Jersey Governor Chris Christie vetoed a bill to take certain non-public sector workers out of the state pension system.

Bill S2100 would have shut-off pension eligibility for newly hired officers and employees of the New Jersey State League of Municipalities, the New Jersey Association of Counties, the New Jersey School Boards Association, as well as several other private groups companies that do public business, reports NJ.com.

Previous reports said taxpayers are paying $1.3 million a year for 62 retirees of the lobbyist groups (see N.J. Lawmakers Approve Bill Banning State Pensions for Lobbyists).

The news report stated Christie allowed the bill to lapse rather than signing it.
