NBCH Offers Guide on Value-Based Health Care Purchasing
Developed to educate key stakeholders on how to implement value-based purchasing programs focused on costs and quality of care for their own organizations and local communities, the guide is a clearinghouse of information on various VBP concepts and strategies. According to a press release, critical elements of value-based purchasing include: measuring and reporting comparative performance; paying providers differentially based on performance; and designing health benefit strategies and incentives to encourage individuals to select high value services and providers and better manage their own health and health care.
Authored by industry experts, the first five chapters of the guide are:
- Value-Based Benefit Design,
- Physician Performance Measurement & Reporting,
- Physician Payment Reform,
- Foundational Business Diagnostics, and
- Health Promotion.
Each chapter features an extensive review of the peer-reviewed and “grey” literature, case studies, a “getting started” guide and discussion boards, the announcement said.
On Thursday, January 27 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Eastern, NBCH will host an introductory Webinar for the guide. Individuals can register for the Webinar at https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/910220883.
