PAAMCO Beefs Up Management Team

February 24, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Hedge fund-of-funds investment manager Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company (PAAMCO) has expanded its senior management team with a number of recent hires.

Joining PAAMCO’s US-based operations are Galin Georgiev , who joins PAAMCO as the Director of Risk Management, Von M. Hughes as the Director of Client Services. Brian P. Mathis joins the firm as a Director in Portfolio Management at the Irvine, California based investment manager.

Also joining the firm as Managing Director, Europe is Stephen Oxley . Oxley along with Mr. Alper Ince, Director, will be responsible for the European region, according to the firm.

Georgiev was previously a Vice President in the Global Structured Products Group at Bank of America, where he was responsible for structuring and origination of hedge fund related products, their pricing and risk management. Hughes was previously a Managing Director at Utendahl Capital Partners, L.P., heading the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group, while Mathis was previously a Vice President in the Merchant Banking Group of LabMorgan at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. There Mathis focused on investments in the hedge fund space and managing LabMorgan’s alternative asset portfolio.

Oxley was previously a Partner and Senior Investment Consultant at Watson Wyatt, LLP in London, where he was primarily responsible for managing the firm’s investment practice, its hedge funds research team, and the firm’s ongoing client relationships.

PAAMCO was formed in March 2000, and currently has approximately $2.0 billion under management.
