PBGC Launches Spanish Site

October 26, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) now offers Spanish speakers their own version of the agency's Web site.

>A news release by the agency that insures private-sector defined benefit plans said participants can access the  Spanish area . There, they will find PBGC publications translated into Spanish including “Your Guaranteed Pension,” “Finding A Lost Pension,” “Your Appeal Rights,” “Your Application for Electronic Direct Deposit,” various informational Fact Sheets, and newsletters for retirees and deferred vested participants.

“The PBGC is committed to serving all of its customers, and for many English is not their first language,” said PBGC Executive Director Bradley Belt. “We took another important step toward better customer service today by making information easily accessible to Spanish-speaking participants in defined benefit pension plans.”

>Spanish-speaking participants can also speak with a Spanish-speaking Customer Service Representative when they call PBGC’s Customer Contact Center numbers: 1-800-400-7242,   1-800-707-7242 (for participants in the LTV Steel Corp. and National Steel Corp. pension plans), or 1-800-453-9584 (for participants in the Bethlehem Steel Corp. pension plan).   The PBGC also makes all of its forms available in Spanish as well as several other languages.
