According to the announcement, Coverage Advisor helps employees understand their health care needs by estimating their costs for healthcare services, and allows the employee to then compare benefit options provided by their employer. Employees build a health profile for themselves and their family, and can forecast expected health care expenses and compare coverage choices to decide which plan is best for their current situation.
Once enrolled in a plan, the Physician Selection Advisor allows participants to compare physicians in their area. The tool provides physician profiles with detailed background, the announcement said.
Both tools, created by Subimo LLC, are available on www.principal.com as part of the Principal Healthy Connections program. The program provides online health assessment tools, a library of health and wellness news, and tools to manage specific medical conditions, among other things.
