Principal Revamps Dental Plan Offering

July 9, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Principal Financial Group has come out with a new dental product that gives participants a broader choice in how they spend their benefits money.

According to a press release from benefits provider, Principal Dental Series II allows participants to roll over some of their unused annual maximum into the next year. The added provision also includes a feature that requires claimants to meet only one deductible amount for as long as they use Principal.

Additional benefit riders allow for coverage of services not always included in a traditional dental benefit design including: dental implants, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) treatment, cosmetic services, dental accidents and orthodontia coverage, the press release said.

“With the added flexibility behind Principal Dental Series II, our customers have virtually unlimited options for structuring their dental benefit designs,” said Theresa McConeghey, dental product director for The Principal, said in the press release. “We developed our latest product by asking our current customers what they liked best about our dental products.”

Principal Dental Series II is currently offered as employer-sponsored or voluntary in select states, with an effective starting date of October. 1, 2007.
