The Reading, Pennsylvania-based center will focus on onsite health and wellness screenings, which include consultations, high-risk interventions and tailored wellness programs for employers located in the region. The new office will also house both sales and service functions.
As part of the wellness program, employers and
their employees participate in screenings that include
blood pressure checks, blood sugar readings, Body Mass
Index testing and cholesterol checks. Each participant
receives a Health Risk Analysis Report that provides
specific feedback and recommendation. Following the
screenings, the program continues to provide ongoing
consultation, education and intervention for those at
risk for a more serious condition, a news release said.
“Wellness activities like onsite health screenings empower employees to improve personal health while motivating them to make healthy lifestyle changes,” said Audrey Vaughn, second vice president of wellness and medical management at Principal Financial Group, in the news release.
Principal formed the Principal Wellness Company in October 2005 to address rising health care costs by focusing on prevention by working with employers to devise wellness plans (SeePrincipal Wellness Company Introduced ).
