... while interest in cash balance plans has increased.

In its 2018 National Cash Balance Plan Report, Kravitz, Inc., an Ascensus company, analyzed IRS Form 5500 filings and found that cash balance plans have more than tripled since 2010. While our data also show plan growth, it tends to fall short of Kravitz’s totals, especially among the smallest plans, which Kravitz estimates make up 57% of plans (vs. 23% in our data). Perhaps new plans are being administered internally. Regardless, cash balance plans are most common among professional-service industries.
