Texas 529 Saddles Up With New Options

September 4, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - An Atlanta-based money manager will provide several investment portfolios for a new 529 college savings plan for the state of Texas.

Enterprise Capital Management Inc. said its three portfolios will be offered through the Tomorrow’s College Investment Plan. The plan is open to investors nationwide for them to accumulate higher education expenses free of federal taxes.

According to an Enterprise announcement, the plan features a $25 minimum investment requirement and Texas residents may establish an account directly through Enterprise.

  • Through Enterprise, Tomorrow’s College Investment Plan provides a series of investment options:

Age-Based Portfolios – Five age-based portfolios are guided by the principles of asset allocation between equities, fixed income and cash. They automatically reallocate in four-year increments based on the age of beneficiaries.
  • Static Allocation Portfolios – Two static asset allocation portfolios offer an option for investors who prefer a fixed asset allocation model: one is allocated 60% to equities and 40% to bonds and the other is a diversified 100% equity portfolio.
  • Single-Fund Portfolios – 13 portfolios focus on a single investment strategy or asset class.
