Who created the breakfast dish called “eggs Benedict?”

The dish wasn’t created, but was a messed up order.

In 1894, socialite Samuel Benedict ordered bacon and poached eggs on toast at New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel. However, he received ham and poached eggs on an English muffin.

The dish was named after Samuel Benedict and became a breakfast sensation.
