U.S. Bancorp Asset Management Names New Small Cap Managers

April 26, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - U.S. Bancorp Asset Management has tapped Sean McLeod as the new lead manager and Robert McDougall as co-manager of the First American Small Cap Growth Opportunities Fund.

A news release said both McLeod and McDougall joined the firm from M&I Investment Corporation’s Marshall Funds in Milwaukee, where McLeod served as the portfolio manager of the Small Cap Growth Fund and McDougall served as co-manager and senior equity analyst. The new appointees replaced Joe Frohna and Brian Bies, who left the firm in March. The fund had more than $509 million in assets under management as of March 31, 2004.

U.S. Bancorp also announced that Allen Steinkopf has been named lead manager of the First American Small Cap Select Fund, which had more than $1.1 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2004. Steinkopf had been a technology analyst for the firm. He replaces John Potter, who left in March.

McLeod served as portfolio manager of the Marshall Small Cap Growth Fund since 2000. Before that, he was a senior equity analyst on the Marshall Small and Mid Cap Growth funds and an equity analyst for Strong Capital Management in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. He has an M.S. degree in finance and a B.A. degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

McDougall served as a senior equity analyst for the Marshall Small Cap Growth Fund since 2000. Prior to that, he served as an equity analyst for the Marshall Large Cap Growth & Income Fund and as a vice president of corporate finance for M&I Marshall & Ilsley. He has an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from the University of Chicago and a B.B.A. degree in finance and accounting from the University of Michigan.

McLeod, McDougall, and Steinkopf are based at the firm’s Minneapolis headquarters.
