21st Century Workforce Council Named

March 29, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - President George W. Bush has appointed ten of the thirteen members to the President's Council on the 21st Century Workforce, according to Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao.

The Office of the 21st Century Workforce was launched in June 2001 by President Bush. The group is responsible for gathering and disseminating information relating to workforce issues by conducting summits, conferences, meetings and other appropriate forums designed to encourage the participation of organizations and individuals interested in such issues.

  • James Hoffa, general president, International Brotherhood of Teamsters

  • Tom Donahue, president, U.S. Chamber of Commerce

The President’s Council on the 21st Century Workforce will provide information and advice to the President through the secretary of labor, the Office of the 21st Century Workforce within the Department of Labor and other appropriate federal officials related to issues affecting the 21st century workforce, according to the DOL.
