Workplace Politicking as Active as Campaign Trail
October 21, 2008 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - While most
people expect to see political candidates campaigning during
an election season, a new survey suggests workplace
politicking is just as active.
Reported by Fred Schneyer
An Accountemps news release said 53% of employees report they see more workplace politicking than five years ago, while 12% indicate they have witnessed a decline. Some 54% of workers polled say it is smart to know about the office political to-and-fro without becoming an active workplace political player.
According to the news release, asked about how best to approach workplace politics, workers responded:
- It’s best to stay out of office politics completely: 29%
- It’s best to participate so you can get ahead: 16%
The survey was conducted by an independent research firm and is based on telephone interviews with 522 workers 18 years of age or older and employed in an office environment.
