New York Life Names Taft-Hartley Leader

February 6, 2013 (PLANSPONSOR.com) New York Life Retirement Plan Services has appointed Nick McParland as national director, Taft-Hartley Market.

McParland will lead the Taft-Hartley service group, including its dedicated relationship management professionals, as well as work with the sales team to develop new business in this market. He will report to Joan Driscoll, managing director of client strategy, and Patrick Murphy, managing director of sales. McParland replaces Jim Byrne, who has left the industry.

McParland joins New York Life Retirement Plan Services from Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, a private equity real estate investment management firm, where he spent three years as director of Institutional Services, responsible for raising capital from institutional investors primarily in the Taft-Hartley market. Earlier, he was a senior vice president of sales and relationship management at Macquarie Capital and, prior to that, spent a combined ten years as a managing director of institutional sales at Prudential Financial and vice president of Taft-Hartley plan sales at Cigna Retirement & Investment Services up to that business’ acquisition by Prudential in 2004. He also served as a retirement investment specialist at Putnam early in his career.
