Every so often you read of these amazing stories where two animal species that don't normally get along form a special bond of friendship - - - that seems to be the case with Toby and Sheila - - - who apparently have a bond that could last - - - forever….well, sort of.

TRIVIAL PURSUITS: Oddly enough, the famous "Turkeys Away" WKRP episode (see Turkeys Away ) was (at least loosely) based on a real event! Do you know what/where it happens?
Back in 1945, Yellville, Arkansas inaugurated the "Turkey Trot Festival" which included a wild turkey calling contest, a turkey target shoot, a Miss Drumsticks Pageant and - a live turkey release from the roof of the courthouse. In the 1960s this was replaced by the Turkey Drop.
According to RoadsideAmerica.com, the thinking behind the toss/drop was that most of the turkeys would escape into the wild and thereby increase the local population. The problem is that wild turkeys can't fly very well. The resulting splattering and chasing (of the turkeys that did land safely) drew unwelcome national media attention in the 1970s and 1980s, and since 1990, Yellville has officially divorced itself of the Turkey Drop - though it still happens every year. The town's position is that mysterious planes just show up over the festival every October and drop turkeys (although the drop point has been moved to the south edge of town so that the pilots don't violate FAA altitude regulations). Four or five drops take place each day, with one to three turkeys per trip.
