Accountants See Record Salary Levels

July 7, 2008 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - For the first time in history, the average salary of members participating in the Institute of Management Accountants Annual Salary Survey exceeded $100,000.

According to a press release, the average salary of IMA members responding to the survey was $101,805 – an increase of 6.9% from 2006. Seventy-four percent of respondents reported receiving salary increases, averaging $6,130 in 2007 – a 4.4% jump from 2006, the announcement said.

Salary increases reported range from approximately $500 to $80,000, with a median of $4,000.

In addition, respondents with a certification had an average salary of $108,852 and average total compensation of $131,094 versus an average salary of $87,093 and average total compensation of $99,834 for respondents with no certification.

Results of IMA’s 19th Annual Salary Survey were based on questionnaires returned by 1,656 IMA members.
