Aetna Teams with Assurant to Swell Dental Network

August 2, 2006 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Assurant Employee Benefits and Aetna have agreed to combine their dental PPO networks, giving members more dental care provider choices.

Aetna will add the dentists contracted by Assurant’s Dental Health Alliance to its dental PPO offering, and Assurant will add Aetna’s Dental Access network to its offering, the announcement said. The larger dental network will offer members more network dentists from which to choose, lowering out-of-pocket costs.

In addition, the announcement said, the greater choice in dental providers could mean employers will notice increased satisfaction levels with employee benefits.

“Linking these two networks gives our customers access to one of the largest dental PPO networks available,” said Pat Farrell, senior vice president of Aetna Specialty Products, in the release.
