Aon Adds State, Local Government Unit

March 8, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Aon Consulting is now going after clients such as statewide retirement systems, universities, governing boards and agencies with its newly formed State and Local Government (SALG) consulting practice.

The SALG unit will offer employee benefits and human capital consulting services, specifically geared to state and local governments, to a wide variety of public sector entities. The latest addition joins Aon’s Government Human Capital Services Group, which offers similar services on the federal level.

“With new government regulations, significant budget deficits and emerging government accounting standards, public sector entities need the attention and expertise of top-notch professionals,” said Roger Vaughn, US president, Aon Consulting.

Aon’s state and local government consulting will include:

  • 457 and other retirement plans
  • employee benefits
  • HR outsourcing
  • actuarial valuations and certifications
  • GASB/OPEB
  • Medicaid/SCHIP
  • compensation
  • process improvement
  • employee communications.

Lurline Craig-Burke, based in Atlanta, has been appointed to lead the new practice. Craig-Burke most recently served as the chief administrator for the State of Georgia Health Benefit Plan, where she oversaw a $2 billion budget for over 600,000 state employees, teachers and their dependents.
