Assurant Offers Critical Illness Coverage as Voluntary Benefit
August 26, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – Assurant Employee Benefits now offers cancer, critical illness, accident and gap insurance as employee-paid voluntary benefits, the company said

A news release said the offerings are available initially in 16 states, but that the market area will be expanded later in the year.
The announcement said insurance brokers and employers can customize the sign-up process and that a group plan offers guarantee issue with a minimum number of employees.
“We know that traditional medical insurance doesn’t cover everything that comes up in life, and that’s why we’re offering these voluntary products,” said Tim Knott, senior vice president of strategic markets and product management, in the news release.
