Ave Maria Sings Praises of Two New Funds

May 1, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Socially conscious investment house Ave Maria Mutual Funds is rolling out two new funds.

The funds avoid investing in companies that:

  • make or sell birth control products,
  • give money to abortion rights groups,
  • distribute pornography, or
  • provide benefits to non-married partners of their employees.

However, they do not exclude tobacco or weapons makers, as do other so-called socially responsible funds, since those do not violate an official stance of the Catholic Church, according to Dow Jones.
