Ave Maria Sings Praises of Two New Funds
May 1, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Socially conscious
investment house Ave Maria Mutual Funds is rolling out two
new funds.
Reported by Eric Hazard
The funds avoid investing in companies that:
- make or sell birth control products,
- give money to abortion rights groups,
- distribute pornography, or
- provide benefits to non-married partners of their employees.
However, they do not exclude tobacco or weapons makers, as do other so-called socially responsible funds, since those do not violate an official stance of the Catholic Church, according to Dow Jones.
An advisory board of lay Catholics ensures that investments meet religious criteria.
