2025 Plan Sponsor of the Year

The Plan Sponsor of the Year finalists will be recognized, and winners announced, at the PLANSPONSOR Excellence in Retirement Awards dinner in June.

The PLANSPONSOR Plan Sponsor of the Year annual awards program recognizes retirement plan sponsors that show an exemplary commitment to their participants’ financial health and retirement success. The award is given in many categories to recognize all plan types, so any plan sponsor can be eligible.

The nomination period opens in November; finalists are announced in March and winners named in June. Nominations may be made by providers, advisers, consultants, actuaries, attorneys, third-party administrators, employees or colleagues. Plan sponsors may also nominate themselves. All nominees are asked to officially enter and complete an online application form, supplying details about their plan’s administration, governance, participant statistics and data.

Only nominated plan sponsors that complete the application are considered in the finalist selection. The number of categories, and the number of finalists selected in each, depends on how many applications are completed. The 2025 awards will be given in 12 categories to allow for the most accurate comparisons across plan types and sizes. For 2025, 144 nominations were received, and 51 finalists were selected from the plan sponsors that completed applications.

Finalists will be recognized, and winners announced, at the PLANSPONSOR Excellence in Retirement Awards celebration during the PLANSPONSOR National Conference, in June.
