2027 Plan Sponsor of the Year

PLANSPONSOR’s Plan Sponsor of the Year awards recognize organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership in helping employees prepare for retirement. Rather than rewarding the largest plans or highest participation rates, the awards honor plan sponsors that have implemented meaningful improvements in plan design, governance, participant engagement, and financial wellness programs to support better participant outcomes.

How Finalists and Winners Are Selected

Nominations may be submitted by advisers, consultants, service providers, attorneys, actuaries, third-party administrators, colleagues or plan sponsor employees themselves.

All nominees are invited to complete a comprehensive application detailing their retirement plan design, governance practices, participant engagement efforts and recent initiatives.

Judges place the greatest emphasis on the actions sponsors have taken to improve participants’ retirement and financial wellness outcomes. While plan statistics such as participation rates, deferral rates and other metrics provide important context, the awards are not based solely on quantitative measures. The focus is on leadership, innovation and a demonstrated commitment to serving participants.

Recognition

Finalists are recognized, and category winners announced, at the PLANSPONSOR Excellence in Retirement Awards celebration in Orlando, June 4, during the 2027 PLANSPONSOR National Conference.
