AXA Offers Retirement Education for Educators

April 8, 2014 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – During National Retirement Planning Week, AXA is emphasizing the need to teach teachers about the importance of their own retirement planning and financial education.

Informational “teach-ins” on retirement planning for school employees are being hosted by AXA Advisors Financial Professionals this month at various locations. For online learning, AXA has compiled a suite of retirement planning resources, including articles of specific interest to educators that explain how 403(b) retirement plans work, tax considerations, why portability matters to today’s mobile teachers, and the advantages of starting early to save for tomorrow.

To support National Retirement Planning Week objectives, Nick Lane, head of AXA’s U.S. Life and Retirement business, will also blog on the IRI website, www.irionline.org, about the importance of a plan for savings as people prepare for retirement.

“This is a week for people to focus on educating themselves to secure their financial futures,” said Kevin Molloy, senior executive director of AXA and head of AXA’s Employer-Sponsored business. “With over 3.6 million* strong, public and private school teachers are among the largest and best-educated workforces in the U.S., and because they are so influential and give so much of themselves, it is imperative to help them take the appropriate steps in order to achieve financial security once they have left the classroom.”
