Bank One Cuts HR Staff

August 23, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Bank One says it has fired at least 150 human resources workers, as the fifth-largest US bank cuts back on hiring and staffing.

The bank has trimmed more than 6,000 positions since Chief Executive Jamie Dimon, 45, took over in March 2000 and about 1,000 jobs since the beginning of the year.   The Chicago-based bank currently employs about 78,400 workers.

A bank spokesperson noted that the number of open positions has been trimmed to about 2,800 from 5,700 a year ago.
