Barclays to Offer REIT ETF

February 5, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Barclays Global Investors has opened the iShares Cohen & Steers Realty Majors Fund, the first exchange traded fund (ETF) to track the real estate investment trust sector.

The iShares Cohen & Steers Realty Majors Fund began trading last Friday, and tracks the Cohen & Steers Realty Majors Index, a modified capitalization weighted total return index of 30 “blue chip” REITs representing the real estate market.

The iShares Cohen & Steers Realty Majors Fund will be managed by Barclays Global Fund Advisors, a subsidiary of Barclays Global Investors, N.A.

iShares are index funds that are bought and sold like common stocks on a national securities exchange.

The ticker symbol for the new fund is “ICF” and the overall expense ratio is pegged at 0.35%.

Barclays manages more than 50 exchange-traded index funds.
