Benefits Provider Unveils Ohio Alt. Coverage Program

August 31, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Buckeye State benefits managers now have a new option in coverage for alternative medical treatments.

American Specialty Health announced that Ohio employers with 51 or more workers can opt to offer coverage for acupuncture, massage therapy, dietetic counseling, and chiropractic/manual manipulation. The company said in a news release that client companies can purchase the coverage as a supplemental group benefit rider.

“Many employers today do not have access to alternative coverage through their traditional health plan,” said George DeVries, president and CEO. “Complementary health care is highly used and valued by members. According to recent studies, complementary health benefit plans are one of the few programs employers are continuing to add to their health benefit packages as traditional health care costs continue to rise in price.”

American Specialty provides specialty benefits for health coverage, health education, and affinity network programs to employer groups, trust funds, health plans, and insurance carriers nationwide.
