BISYS' Package Aimed at Independent Board Members

February 8, 2006 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - BISYS has unveiled its new BoardAssist product aimed at helping independent directors keep up with information on their positions through research, educational seminars and general industry information.

A BISYS news release said that components of the program include a library of educational modules, customized and standard research from BISYS and Financial Research Corporation, as well as industry news and information.

More than 15 seminar modules are in the pipeline with topics ranging from a basic overview of the Investment Company Act of 1940 to fund advertising, fund compliance and best execution, the announcement said. Written by BISYS’ in-house writing staff in collaboration with legal, audit and consulting firms, the seminars take place on location and include a user’s manual, study guide and self assessment examination.

“Independent directors find themselves in need of more objective information from a broader scope of sources to make the critical decisions they face,” said George Martinez, senior vice president, BISYS Fund Services. “With the adoption of the Fund Governance Rules, the SEC recognized this reality and encouraged independent board members to avail themselves of third parties as an objective resource.”
