Canadian Employees Treat Office Printers as Their Own
June 18, 2008 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The majority of
Canadians who work in offices abuse the workplace printer,
according to a survey conducted by Angus Reid Strategies on
behalf of Samsung Electronics.
Reported by Rebecca Moore
Sixty percent of employees reported sending personal print jobs amid office memos and expense reports, Angus Reid said in a press release on the survey results. Surprisingly, the individuals most likely to abuse the office printer were those who could best afford their own – 67% of respondents who lived in households that earned an annual salary of $100,000 or more said they used the business printer for personal purposes.
According to the release, personal uses for the office printer cited by respondents included:
- Maps and directions (59%),
- Online purchase and bill payment confirmations (40%),
- Personal emails (39%),
- News articles (39%),
- Color photographs (20%), and
- Resumés(1%).
The survey included 1,004 Canadians and was conducted from May 1-5.
