CareerBuilder Launches Public Sector Division

March 12, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Online job site CareerBuilder.com has unveiled a new unit designed to help state and local government hiring managers connect with the best job candidates.

A CareerBuilder news release said CBPublic will also work with state and local government agencies to increase public awareness efforts and outreach concerning public sector job opportunities.

Specialized tools including search agents, job templates and candidate screeners, according to CareerBuilder.

The announcement pointed out that many public sector employers are struggling with employee recruitment and retention.

In a recent CareerBuilder.com survey, 18% of government workers said they are dissatisfied with their jobs and 20% plan to leave their job by the end of 2007.

“The pool of available talent is shrinking and productivity growth has reached a plateau,” said Steve Million, State and Local Government director for CareerBuilder.com, in the news release. “Forty percent of employers surveyed by CareerBuilder.com say they currently have jobs for which they can’t find skilled workers. For state and local governments, this can have serious consequences, jeopardizing crucial functions such as transportation and tourism and affecting overall economic performance.”
