Ceres Climate Risk Guide Now on the Web

August 12, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - An earth-friendly consortium of investment firms and others has published its investors' guide to evaluating and mitigating climate risk on the Internet.

Ceres said in a news release that itsInvestor Guide to Climate Risk – a  new online guide  on addressing the financial risks and investment opportunities posed by global warming – is now available. The guide includes links to nearly 50 resources for investors, fund managers, and companies seeking to evaluate and mitigate climate risk.

The publication identifies three actions to address climate risk:

  • assessing the risks
  • disclosing the risks
  • supporting government actions to promote investor certainty, including mandatory policies to achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

According to the announcement, the guide’s action steps are aimed at pension and endowment plan sponsors and their investment consultants; fund managers for “buy side” investment managers and “sell side” brokers and securities analysts and corporations for boards of directors, CEOs and top executives.

To order a printed copy of the guide, contact Chris Fox at Ceres at fox@ceres.org . The guide was commissioned by Ceres and written by Douglas Cogan of the Investor Responsibility Research Center, an investor advisory firm.
