CFP Board Launches Redesigned Web Site

March 26, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards, Inc has redesigned its Web site to include financial planning tools that provide personalized information for visitors based on user input.

The newly redesigned site is set up to offer education on a variety of financial planning topics, such as choosing afinancial planner, debt management, major life changes andfinancial terminology, through the use of financial planning tools.

Among these tools is a quiz to help consumersdeterminetheir attitudes about planning and managing financial affairs.  The quiz, entitled How’s Your Attitude? gives consumers an opportunity to learn what their financialattitude means and how they compare to others. 

Consumers interested in choosing a financial planner will be interested in tools such as the Personal Data Organizer. The organizer is designed to prepare consumers for their firstmeeting with a financial planner as well as to offer the ability to check on whichplanners have CFP certification, whether a planner has been publiclydisciplined by CFP Board, or to file a complaint against a planner with CFPcertification.   Similarly, the site includes the CFP Board’s Financial Planning ResourceKit, which includes information on:

  • what consumersshould know about financial planning
  • questions to ask when choosingafinancial planner
  • consumer rights as a financial planning client
