Cigna, Humana Form Workplace Benefits Alliance
A news release said CIGNA Corporation and Humana will blend CIGNA’s consultative approach and single point of contact for clients with Humana’s group Medicare Advantage products and services. The companies said that with the alliance, clients should have a simplified management structure and additional geographic offerings.
According to the announcement, Humana is recognized for its health and wellness solutions and Medicare offerings. CIGNA brings a commercial product portfolio and health and wellness programs to the alliance.
The Group Medicare Advantage alliance products are expected to be available beginning July 1, 2010, subject to regulatory approvals. Under the terms of the alliance, CIGNA and Humana will coordinate services and share financial results equally.
The companies will also continue to offer products and services independently of the alliance.
