CIGNA Unveils International Alert System

August 22, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) -Companies with workers traveling in other countries may want to consider a new program that could help them better pinpoint employees whose health and safety could be in jeopardy and warn them.

Travel Locator Service, a program offered with Medical Benefits Abroad for business travelers from CIGNA International Expatriate Benefits (CIEB), is a Web-based tool that combines worldwide medical and security intelligence with illness and accident medical coverage designed for international business travelers, according to a news release.

The announcement said that employers with employees traveling internationally get a detailed alert to identify which employees are traveling on business and where – pinpointing the exact whereabouts of traveling professionals down to country, city, and hotel location – so that employers can immediately communicate with traveling employees.

The news release said that the program enables companies to monitor world events, receive real-time alerts, and respond to manage risks and protect traveling employees.

Travel information is downloaded automatically from a company’s central travel booking agency to the Travel Locator Service Web site. Employers can search the Travel Locator Service Web site by traveler’s name, country or city of destination, travel dates, airline and flights, as well as hotel location risk ratings by city, country or continent, the news release said.

Employers also receive daily reports on travelers’ bookings to high or extreme risk medical and security destinations and “Monday morning” reports with details about risk exposure for the coming week. Additionally, a single click on the Travel Locator Web site allows employers to send e-mails immediately to travelers and managers, according to the news release.
