CT Public Employees See Greatest Pension Rewards in 2006

state and local employees saw the heftiest pensions in the
U.S. in 2006, followed by Colorado, New Jersey and Rhode
Island, according to an analysis of Census Bureau data by the
Empire Center for New York State Policy.

According to the breakdown of pension benefits, Connecticut employees got an average of $28,344 in 2006, followed closely by Colorado, which paid $27,798, New Jersey, $26,824, and Rhode Island, $25,836.
Vermont , Montana, North Dakota, Iowa and West Virginia fell at the bottom of the list in terms of pension benefits to state and local employees, paying out $12,628, $12,562, $12,297, $11,951 and $11,034, respectively.The group also looked at how much employees were asked to contribute.
New Hampshire employees were asked to contribute the most at 20.2%, followed by South Carolina (19.4%) and New Jersey (16.7%). Oregon, Wisconsin and Florida employees were asked to contribute the least, at 0.1%, 0.7% and 1.1%, respectively.For the complete ranking of states go here.
