Daiwa, Wilshire Form Japanese Hedge Fund of Funds

May 27, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Daiwa SB Investments Ltd. and Wilshire Associates have formed a joint venture to create a hedge fund of funds aimed at large Japanese institutional investors such as pension plans.

A news release said that Wilshire Funds Management will serve as the investment manager overseeing all aspects of the funds program, while Daiwa SBI will be responsible for marketing and local client servicing.

“The time is now right to offer this new hedge fund of funds to clients as an appropriate vehicle to meet their changing investment needs,” said Shunsuke Ichijo, senior executive officer of Daiwa SB Investments Ltd., in the news release.

  “…we have had a longstanding interest in the area of alternative investments and have had business relationships with a variety of organizations in Japan through our Wilshire Private Markets and Wilshire Analytics operations…” said Dennis Tito, chairman and chief executive officer of Wilshire Associates, in the announcement.
