DoL Newsletter Spotlights Women Workers

April 17, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Department of Labor (DoL) has launched an electronic newsletter for America's working women.

According to a DoL news release, the new initiative is in line with Labor Secretary Elaine Chao’s aim to support the expanding influence of female workers on the economy and public policy.

The newsletter is posted on the Department’s Women’s Bureau Web site and new editions will also be distributed electronically by email.

The first issue focuses on women and technology, sharing news from Women’s Bureau initiatives such as its:

  • mentor program
  • online learning program
  • a virtual conferencing initiative to expands awareness about how technology can further women’s careers.

Future issues will cover issues and events that impact the lives of working women, the DoL said.

“The DoL will be a resource for working women to get advice, share concerns and improve their opportunities for success. The Women’s Bureau’s E-news is just one step we are taking to open an ongoing dialogue with working women in America,” Chao said in a statement.

To be added to the newsletter distribution list, e-mail contact information to contact-wb@dol.gov .
