DoL Unveils USERRA Web Portal

August 4, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Returning active service personnel who think they are being discriminated against because of their military status can now file a federal complaint online.

Developed by the US Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS), the Web portal  is called VETS Form 1010 and allows National Guard and reserve service personnel to file complaints under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).

“This new online form will make it easier for National Guard and Reserve service members to alert us to any job-related problems they may encounter because of their service to our country,” US Labor Secretary Elaine Chao said in a statement.

The department is also offering

  • a poster that spells out rights and responsibilities under USERRA for display in workplaces. It can be downloaded here .
  • briefings and technical assistance to more than 280,000 service members and others on USERRA.
