Dow Jones Reshuffles Titans

June 7, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Dow Jones Indexes has shuffled the constituents of its Titans indexes as part of its regular annual review.

The review resulted in changes to the Dow Jones Global Titans 50, Dow Jones Sector Titans 30 and Dow Jones Asian Titans 50 indexes.

Global Constituents

According to a news release from Dow Jones Indexes, five component stocks are being changed in the Dow Jones Global Titans 50 index. The new additions to the index are:

  • ChevronTexaco, domiciled in the US
  • Royal Bank of Scotland Group, UK
  • PepsiCo, US
  • Barclays UK, and 
  • AstraZeneca UK

These stocks will replace:

  • Ford Motor Co., US
  • Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group, Japan,
  • Deutsche Telekom, Germany,
  • WorldCom, US and
  • BT Group UK

Total free-float market capitalization of the reconstituted Dow Jones Global Titans 50 Index increased to $5.4 trillion from $5.18 trillion as of May 31, 2002.

Asian Titans

The following four stocks are being added to the Dow Jones Asian Titans 50 index: 

  • Japan’s Nissan Motor Co.
  • Kookmin Bank, domiciled in South Korea,
  • Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea, and
  • United Overseas Bank, Singapore

They will replace:

  • Denso Corp., of Japan,
  • Hong Kong’s Swire Pacific A,
  • Singapore Telecommunications Ltd in Singapore, and
  • Citic Pacific, Hong Kong

Total free-float market capitalization of the reconstituted Dow Jones Asian Titans 50 Index increased to $1.06 trillion from $1.02 trillion as May 31, 2002.

The group also made substantial changes to its Dow Jones Sector Titans 30 index. A full component list can be viewed at the company’s Web site at www.djindexes.com .

The changes will be effective with the opening of trading on June 24, 2002.
