EGTRRA Sunset Clauses Made Permanent
June 21, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The House of
Representatives easily approved legislation tearing off the
expiration date of the retirement savings provisions of the
Economic Growth and Tax Reform Reconciliation Act.
Reported by Camilla Klein
The bill, which would remove the 2010 expiration date from legislation that increased contribution limits to 401(k) plans and individual retirement accounts, garnered 308 votes, with 70 votes against. The bill, HR 4931, is called the Retirement Security Savings Act.
The House of Representatives also voted out a Democrat
version of the legislation, which would also have stepped
up taxes on corporate executives, in a vote of 204 to 182,
split along party lines.
