Employees More At Ease with Web-based Benefits Enrollment

March 29, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Workers are apparently getting more comfortable with the Internet as a way to select and update their workplace benefits, suggests Workscape, Inc., which provides outsourced benefits, compensation and performance management solutions.

Employees can make benefits selections through Workscape’s outsourced benefits administration (OBA) service.

During the most recent open enrollment session, the Massachusetts-based company said that employees were more comfortable with using a Web-based feature to make their benefits selection, with 83% of the 600,000 employees using the Workscape OBA during the period turning to the Web-based service. That compared to only 11% who used the HR service center and 6% who relied on telephone-based enrollment.

Daryl Ashley, Workscape’s senior vice president and general manager, Outsourced Benefits Administration, said in a news release that Workscape managed up to 75,000 transactions a week, including more than 22,000 in one day.
